Insights by Enterprise Singapore

While Singapore faces unique challenges in sustainable development because of our land and resource constraints, we have always seen them as opportunities.

In this context, the Government launched the Singapore Green Plan 2030 to advance our national agenda on sustainable development. The Green Plan charts ambitious and concrete targets over the next 10 years, positioning us to achieve net-zero emissions as soon as viable.

Technology and innovation will continue to play a significant role in the implementation of the Green Plan as we change the way we utilise and consume precious resources. Since 2016, Singapore invested S$900 million under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) plan to further catalyse the translation, deployment and commercialisation of cutting-edge sustainable technologies.

Amongst our efforts, Open Innovation Challenge is a key modality to accelerate solutions to market, and validate solutions through pilots.

Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) 2021 – Round 2

The Sustainability Open Innovation Challenges (SOIC) brings together innovators and corporate partners to address sustainability issues. Since 2019, we have worked alongside more than 30 private and public corporate partners, providing opportunities across themes such as resource conservation and green materials.

SOIC 2021 – Round 2 launched 18 challenge statements under the themes of low carbon and circular economy, from partners including DNATA, Grab, JBM Group, Lagardère Travel Retail, LHN Energy Resources, L’Oréal, P&G, Volkswagen, Wee Hur Holdings, and Sentosa Development Corporation. More details on the opportunities and support can be found on the challenge website here.

We invite innovative companies to participate in this challenge not only for the chance to collaborate with major corporate partners, test-bed and access funding to develop the solutions, but to also play a critical role in building a more sustainable future for the world.

The application window closes on 24 January 2022.
